Slime is the revenge of the In-itself. A sickly sweet feminine revenge which will be symbolized on another level by the quality “sugary.” - Jean Paul Sartre, Being and Nothingness
The viscous is a thickly sweet purgatory. Neither solid nor liquid it exists in an ambiguous contingent between these states. Characterized by the feminine, the viscous becomes a beast of sorts; seemingly enticing, benign and consumable, like syrup or honey, but with the capacity to bite back, to cling and ultimately to devour it’s beholder.
In this body of work I examine and adopt these characteristics to question and reinterpret the phenomenon of the feminine viscous.
